I wrote this sometime back ... enjoy your fucking BBQ ... fallen heroes / swept clean death for the evening news still ...
wasn't there pain ... and flies / flies buzz the dead you know
This is a powerful post and an important poem you've written. I am reminded of Wilfred Owen and other great war poets who, through their profound understanding of the utter insanity of war, have unflinchingly showed us the truth. Thank you for this post, and for your willingness to always state the truth.
How easy it is for us to forget what the real cost of war is. Human life. Whether the life is lost in active war or upon return to suicide due to the ghosts that haunt those who do return, it is too high a price to pay just to satisfy the ego of a few. Our politicians spend this precious resource with as little thought as if they were buying a cup of coffee at their local coffee shop. Perhaps if there was a draft with absolutely no deferments and their sons, daughters, and grandchildren had to be the first to serve, they'd be less likely to spend those lives.
This is a stiking case of Realism against the cockeyed staged fantasea of Marketeers, Corporations & The Greedy 1% & their HIDDEN AGENDAS! As a Native, I ask for ALL TO HOWL LIKE WOUNDED WOLVES & CORRECT THIS WITH TRUTH, JUSTICE & ACTION!
The emotions that thunder out of this work of yours remind me of the recent weather here in Oklahoma-real and very, very powerful. A message, a reminder, a lesson ...
Definitely agree with all here. I posted a support of the soldiers BUT NOT the leaders who send them off on bad intel and motivations--but mine wasn't nearly bold enough. Best Wishes!
